元宵節怎麼說?
The *Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the *lunar calendar marking the last day of the lunar New Year celebration.
元宵節是中國的節慶，人們在農曆一月十五日時慶祝，這天也亦是新年慶祝活動進入尾聲。
*Lantern Festival 元宵節；lantern意為燈籠，燈籠節亦是元宵節。
*lunar calendar 農曆、陰曆，lunar 為月亮的意思(農曆制訂是根據月亮盈缺)
今昔燈籠相較
In ancient times, the lanterns were fairly simple, and only the *emperor and *noblemen had large *ornate ones. In modern times, lanterns have *been embellished with many complex designs. For example, lanterns are now often made *in the shape of animals.
在古代的時候，燈籠的樣式非常簡單，只有帝王或是貴族才有華美的燈籠款式。然而在現代，燈籠多半設計都不簡單，舉例來說，現在的燈籠多半是動物的造型。

元宵節的由來
One legend tells us that it was a time to *worship Taiyi, the God of Heaven in ancient times. The belief was that the God of Heaven controlled the *destiny of the human world. He had sixteen dragons *at his disposal and he decided when to *inflict *drought, *storms, *famine or *pestilence upon human beings.
傳說元宵節是為了祭拜太乙，也就是天庭之神。大家相信天庭之人掌控著人類的命運，祂有16隻龍聽候祂的差遣，決定甚麼時候要降下災難給人們，如乾旱、暴風雨、飢荒、傳染病等。

Beginning with Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, all the emperors ordered *splendid *ceremonies each year. The emperor would ask Taiyi to bring *favorable weather and good health to him and his people .Wudi of the Han *Dynasty directed special attention to this event. In 104 BCE, he *proclaimed it to be one of the most important celebrations and the ceremony would last throughout the night.
自中國第一位皇帝秦始皇開始，所有的皇帝都舉辦盛大的儀式來慶祝元宵節，為的是祈求風調雨順、和永保安康。漢武帝為元宵節注入新氣象，他宣布元宵節成為重要的節日，並在夜間持續慶祝。

Today, the *displaying of lanterns is still a *major event on Lantern Festival. Chengdu in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, for example, holds a lantern fair each year in Culture Park. During the Lantern Festival, the park is a *virtual ocean of lanterns. Many new designs *attract large numbers of visitors. The most *eye-catching lantern is the *Dragon Pole. This is a lantern in the shape of a golden dragon, *spiraling up a 38-meter-high pole.
如今，展示燈籠仍然是元宵節最主要的活動，舉例來說，在中國西南方的四川成都每年都在文化公園舉辦燈籠展，在元宵節期間，公園宛如一片燈籠海，許多新穎的設計新引眾多的遊客前來觀賞。最引人注目的作品莫過於金龍盤柱，有著金龍的造型，盤踞在38公尺的柱子。
